Yes, they are missing opportunity, but they are also missing a risk that is greater than the opportunity. You can’t blame people from avoiding risk–that’s the smart thing to do most of the time. People are easily tricked into disregarding risk when a potential reward seems good enough; that’s why people want to gamble, and that’s also why people who gamble lose everything.
BINGO!! Fear of failure and self-doubts. We have a million cliches to use for any occasion. Did you ever notice how you can contradict each cliche with another if you know enough of them? Some people buy beautiful objects or wooden plaques to remind themselves that there are always excuses. I **** cliches and then find myself using them in the absense of having an answer. It is comforting jibber-jabber. Once in a great while, I find a true one——–true for me. (Or do I just NEED it right then?) Ignore cliches. Good Luck!! @8=)
if they have kids and a mortgage they become slaves to the almighty paycheck. a single guy could do alot more risky moves. the down side is that he would be resented by the others for having more freedom. thats one guy opinion pal.
People resist change. They love their comfort zone. What they fail to realize is that when something is being presented to them, it probably should be given attention. I was once told that when something presents itself to you three times, it is a very good idea to give it consideration. People also fail to realize that things aren’t all written in stone. Reach out and try a new opportunity, if it doesn’t work, move on. Life is for living. There are no mistakes.
It happens everyday. I was like that until just recently now I’m moving 2200 miles from where I grew up. The feeling is unbelievable and I wish more people would take a chance to feel what I’m feeling. Like the old saying goes, “If you always do what you’ve always done you’ll always get what you’ve been getting.” Many people are good with that. Being comfortable is very important for the majority of people.
If the only goal and responsibility one has is financial, then the answer is yes, but most people have a variety of goals and responsibility and the need TIME to pursue/take care of these tasks. Time is precious and shouldn’t be squandered on things you have no real interest in.
People who are in happy pursuit of their own goals, will not let other people’s definition of success distract them from their path. It feels good to follow and meet your goals–to have little successes.
On the same lines, people who take their responsibilities seriously will not neglect those responsibilities just because someone shows them something new. It feels good to know you are taking care of your responsibilities–it makes you feel successful.
Occasionally, an opportunity comes along that falls within the lines of your goals, and enhances your ability to meet your responsibilities. Because these opportunities are usually carved out BY YOU as you follow through with YOUR plans, they aren’t hard to believe; they are long awaited and well deserved. If feels AWESOME to create your own opportunities/destiny–it IS success.
Too many times we stand ashore, and let the waters slip away, till what we’ve put off till tomorrow, has now become today. So don’t you sit upon the shoreline, and say you’re satisfied.
Choose to chance the rapids, and dare to dance the tides.
