I was an associate of Pre-Paid Legal and I am currently an associate of Creative Memories. While I made some money on Pre-Paid Legal, the fact of the matter is that all of the ‘multi-level’ or ‘network’ marketing businesses make the bulk of their money by selling services and products to their associates.
Last week’s New York Times had a lengthy article on the fact that investors are short-selling the stocks of these companies because the Federal Trade Commission has proposed new legislation that would force these companies to disclose the fact that very few people make money in their programs.
